Golden Globe Awards 2024: Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer Dominates
Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer wins five out of Nine nominations (Motion Picture). Oppenheimer was the Best Motion Picture in the 81st Golden Globe Awards. Nolan won the Best Director award. Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. received the other two important acting awards, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectively. Ludwig Goransson was the winner of the Best Original Score award. This was by far the highest nomination for a movie in the 81st Golden Globe Awards. At the same time, The Succession leads the TV. The three-hour 2024 Golden Globe Awards show took place in Beverly Hills, California.
Other Surprising Win and Introduction of New Awards in 2024 Golden Globe Awards
Oppenheimer’s main competitor in the drama category was Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. Lily Gladstone of the latter movie, won the Best Actress award (Drama). This made her the first indigenous actor in this category to not only be nominated but also win the award. Surprisingly, Yorgos Lanthimos’ strange sci-fi, Poor Things came out as the winner in the Best Comedy or Musical category, prevailing over Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. Emma Stone also earned the award for Best Performance in a motion picture-Musical or Comedy in the Female category.
2024 Golden Globe Awards: Two New Awards Introduced This Year
The Golden Globes Awards came back this year after a few years of criticism and boycott of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. This association earlier presented the awards. The association got criticism as there were no black members in it and various corruption issues.
Jo Koy hosted the 2024 Golden Globes Award and introduced two new categories: Best Performance in stand-up comedy on Television and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
